Eat Fruit During The Day

If you had a mother like mine, every time you said you were hungry you got told to 'Eat and apple.'

(If you were thirsty she'd say, 'Have a drink of water.' We didn't do cool drink in those days except at Christmas time when a dozen large bottles of cool drink lasted until the long weekend in January, which was not bad considering there were six people in the family. If you said you were cold, she'd say, 'Go and put on a jumper.' If you said you were bored, she'd say, 'Go outside and play.')

All good, straight forward advice except now you're older and your taste buds have been educated by the various divisions of the McFatter company, it's easier to grab a biscuit or a chocolate bar in the middle of the afternoon than it is to go and find an apple.

However, the cost of replacing fruit with a confection of fat, flour and sugar is high. The sugar boost does your mood no good, your exhaust system gets clogged up, the extra calories end up around your midriff and thighs and your hip pocket becomes lighter.

To make the fruit thing work you're going to have to come to work prepared. Or maybe you can join with people in your workgroup to establish a roster whereby you take turns purchasing fresh fruit (to order) a couple of times a week.

A fruit fund might be the shot to protect you from the munchies.

I read somewhere that men won't eat fruit unless it's cut up for them! Men, stop being silly, cut the fruit up yourself.

Today (and every other day) have at least one piece of fruit at work.
