The health, fitness and wellbeing of the community is in decline, driven in no small measure by people who are under-exercised (and over fed). Our research shows that few people have a regular and systematic aerobic fitness, strength and flexibility training program - leading to personally-generated metabolic, musculo-skeletal and mental health dysfunctions that are largely hidden from view.

This is decline in health, fitness and wellbeing is affecting workplaces through decreases in productivity more and unplanned absences. It comes with increased workers compensation claims, many of which are attributed to incidents masquerading as accidental injuries, or situations that people in good physical condition take in their stride.

Jobs where people spend all day sitting down have become the satanic mills of the 21st Century. This includes sitting in offices or motor vehicle cabins. It is virtually impossible to maintain good musculo-skeletal health in these occupations without a good strength and flexibility training program.
 
The risks to any workplace are loss of productivity and more unplanned absences.
 

At the heart of the matter lies a duty of care, equally shared by employers and the employees. Employees can expect a safe work place. Employers can expect their staff to be fit for work.
 
It’s in the interests of employers to encourage their staff to keep themselves fit and healthy to the best of their ability. In fact it's imperative, particularly if they want to reduce the number of sick leave and workers compensation claims – in particular fending off claims from people who are suffering from personally-generated body system dysfunctions..

It's in the interest of employers to know which staff have pre-existing conditions. They should know which staff lack strength and flexibility. This means encouraging staff to improve their metabolic, musculo-skeletal and mental health.
 
It’s in the interests of employees to keep themselves in work-fit condition. Number 1 reason? they feel better, they have more energy and vitality. Number 2 reason? they are less likely to experience metabolic, musculo-skeletal and mental health distress.
 
Workers compensation premiums are not rated against individual risk. Workers compensation insurers don’t measure risk, which it's imperative that why employers have to do it.
